A delicious layered casserole featuring seasoned ground beef, melted cheese, and crunchy tortilla chips, perfect for a family dinner.

- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 cup salsa
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 bag (13 oz) tortilla chips, crushed
- 1 cup sour cream
- Optional toppings: chopped tomatoes, jalapeños, and cilantro
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add chopped onion and garlic to the skillet; cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in taco seasoning, black beans, and salsa; simmer for 5 minutes.
- Layer half of the crushed tortilla chips in the prepared baking dish.
- Spread the beef mixture over the chips, then sprinkle with half of the shredded cheese.
- Add another layer of the remaining chips and top with the rest of the cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
- Top with sour cream and optional toppings as desired.
Notes
This casserole can be prepared ahead and refrigerated; bake when ready. It’s spicy, so adjust seasoning to taste.
