Description

A delicious layered casserole featuring seasoned ground beef, melted cheese, and crunchy tortilla chips, perfect for a family dinner.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 bag (13 oz) tortilla chips, crushed
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • Optional toppings: chopped tomatoes, jalapeños, and cilantro

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add chopped onion and garlic to the skillet; cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in taco seasoning, black beans, and salsa; simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Layer half of the crushed tortilla chips in the prepared baking dish.
  6. Spread the beef mixture over the chips, then sprinkle with half of the shredded cheese.
  7. Add another layer of the remaining chips and top with the rest of the cheese.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
  10. Top with sour cream and optional toppings as desired.

Notes

This casserole can be prepared ahead and refrigerated; bake when ready. It’s spicy, so adjust seasoning to taste.
