Description

A sweet, cinnamon-flavored bread made from a sourdough-like starter, often shared among friends, resulting in a moist and addictive treat.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • Optional: 1 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the starter and milk.
  2. Add oil, sugar, eggs, and vanilla; mix well.
  3. In another bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture and stir until just combined.
  5. Pour batter into greased loaf pans.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool on wire rack before slicing.

Notes

This bread improves with age; wrap and store for a few days for best flavor. The starter can be refrigerated and used multiple times.
